World Heritage Day 2025, officially known as the International Day for Monuments and Sites, is Friday 18th April 2025. Derbyshire is home to the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in the East Midlands, with much of the site running through our very own Amber Valley. The Derwent Valley Mills is recognised for its pivotal role in the Industrial Revolution, stretching 15 miles along the River Derwent from Matlock Bath to Derby. The modern factory system owes its origins to the mills where Richard Arkwright’s inventions were first put into industrial-scale production.
