Holloway and the Cromford Canal


Length & Grading: 5 miles, moderate/strenuous.


Take a stroll through Amber Valley’s industrial past. Visit the Cromford Canal, Aqueduct Cottage and Lea Hurst – home of Florence Nightingale. A walk with interesting history, beautiful countryside and fantastic views over the Derwent Valley. Some steep hills. (15 stiles). Bring a packed lunch as we will stop for lunch.


Starting Point: Whatstandwell Rail Station, Derby Road DE4 5EE. Grid Ref: SK 333 541. (Parking Station car park (charges) OR nearby free car park near canal on Stone Wood Drive).

Discover the benefits of using Nordic Walking Poles. During this session you'll get a chance to have a go at learning the original technique from one of the UK's most experienced instructors.
